Սրտի անհուն ցնծութեամբ կ՚ողջունեմ Սուրբ Լուսաւորիչ Մայր Եկեղեցւոյ 110ամեակը, որ կոթողական առիթ մըն է Ամերիկեան ցամաքամասին վրայ, առհասարակ, եւ Թեմէս ներս գործող Ծուխերուն համար առ Աստուած երախտագիտութեան աղօթք բարձրացնելու, եւ վերա-նորոգ հաւատքով ու յոյսով շարունակելու մեր ծառայութիւնը ժողովուրդի կեանքէն ներս։
Սուրբ Լուսաւորիչ եկեղեցւոյ 100ամեակը եթէ հանդիսացաւ անկիւնադարձային տօնախմբութիւն մը, դարբնելու մեր հաւաքական կամքը՝ անկարելին յաղթահարած ըլլալու արդար հպարտութեամբ, 110ամեակը այսօր կու գայ առաւել եւս ջրդեղելու մեր կորովը, թէ վերջակէտ մը չէր 100ամեակը մեր գոյութեան, ինչպէս մեր ազգի ցեղասպանութիւնը սադայէլական սադրանքներով խոհարարած դահիճ պետութիւնը կ՛ակնկալէր, այլ մեր հինգ հազարամեայ հայեցի էութեան պատուաստուած երկու հազարամեայ քրիստոնէական հաւատքով մենք կը շա-րունակենք մեր երթը դէպի յաւիտենականութիւն՝ Նախախնամութեան մեր ազգին տնօրինած ծրագրով։
Արդարեւ, անցնող հարիւր եւ տասը տարիները հանդիսացան ատոք հասկերու գերազանց փունջ մը, երբ Մայր Եկեղեցին դարձաւ հաւատքի, մշակոյթի, բարեսիրութեան, հիւրընկալութեան, ընկերային ծառայութեան, ինքնութեան դարբնումի աստուածահաճոյ օճախ մը։
Այստե՛ղ է որ խաչեալ մեր ժողովուրդին յոյսը վառ պահուեցաւ Քրիստոսի Յարութեամբ։
Այստե՛ղ է որ Հայ կամաւորներ եկան հաղորդուելու նախքան Արարայի ճակատամարտի յաղթանակը ապահովելը։
Այստե՛ղ է որ Վարդգէս եւ Արմենուհի Ահարոնեաններ եկան եւ ամենայն համեստութեամբ մեր նորահաս սերունդին ջամբեցին հայ գրականութիւնն ու պատմութիւնը։
Այստե՛ղ է որ ԱՆՉԱյի միջոցաւ տարբեր ցամաքամասերէ տեղափոխուած հազարաւոր հայեր վայելեցին Հայ տան ջերմութիւնն ու բարիքները։ Այստե՛ղ է որ Տէր Զօրի անապատներէն անթաղ եւ անշիրիմ մեր սուրբերուն մասունքները զետեղուեցան, եւ դեռ․․․ այստե՛ղ է որ կը շարունակուին մարդակերտումի, ազգակերտումի նպաստող ամէն տեսակի գովելի ձեռնարկներ, որոնք կը շեփորահարեն աստուածարմատ մեր ժողովուրդի անպարտելի նկարագիրը եւ տես-լականը։
Այս առթիւ, առաջին հերթին խնկանուէր աղօթք կը բարձրացնեմ եկեղեցական թէ աշխարհական բոլոր այն ծառաներուն որոնք գործեցին ու անցան, մեզի փոխանցելով այս հոյակերտ ժառանգը։
Բարձրօրէն կը գնահատեմ անցնող երկու տասնամեակներու եկեղեցւոյ հոգեւոր Հովիւ՝ Արժանապատիւ Տէր Մեսրոպ Աւագ Քահանայի բոլորանուէր ծառայութիւնը ի խնդիր համայնքին վերակազմակերպման եւ վերաբարգաւաճման,ինչպէս նաեւ Հոգաբարձութեան անվերապահ աջակցութիւնը՝ որպէս անուրանալիներուժ աստուածահաճոյ ծրագիրներու իրականացման։
Խորապէս կը գովեմ մեր քոյր կազմակերպութեանց գործակցութիւնը, որ յատուկ երանգ մը կը բերէ համայնական մեր կեանքէն ներս։
Ջերմօրէն կը դրուատեմ բոլոր բարերարներու ու նուիրատուներու անվերապահ օժանդա-կութիւնը եւ եկեղեցին կենսաւորող Ծխականներու մասնակցութիւնը, որոնք իրենց ներկայութեամբ պատրոյգին լոյս հայթայթող իւղի նման վառ կը պահեն լուսատու այս հոգեւոր Տունը։
Լուսաւորիչներու, Սահակ-Մեսրոպներու եւ Շնորհալիներու Աստուածը թող միշտ առաջնորդէ բոլորս ի բարին եւ ի խաղաղութիւն, մեր աչքերը յառելով յաւերժական Արարատին եւ Լուսաւորչի Կանթեղին։

With boundless joy, I extend my heartfelt greetings on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of St. Illuminator’s Cathedral—a major milestone in the American continent in general, and a landmark occasion for the parishes of our Prelacy in particular to offer thanksgiving prayers to God and to continue our mission to serve our people with renewed faith and hope.
If the Cathedral’s centennial was a pivotal celebration, forging our collective will with earned pride for having overcome the impossible, the 110th anniversary now comes to further invigorate our resolve, reminding us that the centennial was not the conclusion of our existence, as the genocidal state—architect of malignant schemes—had anticipated, but that, rooted in five millennia of Armenian identity and fortified by two thousand years of Christian faith, we continue our journey towards eternity, guided by the divine Providence accorded to our nation.
Indeed, the past one hundred and ten years have proven to be a splendid harvest of ripened fruits, as the Mother Cathedral became a God-pleasing hearth of faith, culture, charity, hospitality, social service, and the forging of identity.
It is here that the hope of our crucified people was kept alive through the Resurrection of Christ.
It is here that Armenian volunteers came to receive the Holy Communion before securing victory at the Battle of Arara.
It is here that Vartkes and Armenouhi Aharonian came, and with utmost humility taught Armenian literature and history to our new generation.
It is here that, through ANCHA, thousands of Armenians arriving from various continents experienced the warmth and blessings of an Armenian home.
It is here that the relics of our martyred saints, left unburied and unmarked in the deserts of Der Zor, were finally laid to rest. Yet it is still here that praiseworthy initiatives continue, fostering human and national edification, proclaiming to all the indomitable character vision of our people, anchored in God.
On this occasion, I first elevate a prayer graced with incense to every clergyman and lay servant who has toiled and passed on, leaving us this magnificent legacy.
I highly commend the devoted service of Archpriest Father Mesrob Lakissian, Pastor of the Church over the past two decades, for his tireless efforts toward the reorganization and revitalization of the community, as well as the unwavering support of the Board of Trustees—an undeniable force in realizing God-pleasing programs.
I praise sincerely the collaboration of our sister organizations, which adds a distinct and enriching dimension to our community life.
I warmly extol the unconditional support of all benefactors and donors, as well as the active participation of the faithful parishioners, who through their presence sustain this luminous spiritual home like oil feeding the flame of the sanctuary lamp.
May the God of the Illuminator, of Sahag and Mesrob, and of Nerses Shnorhali always guide us all toward goodness and peace, with our eyes fixed on the eternal Ararat and the Lamp of the Illuminator.

From the Mother See of the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia in Antelias, with patriarchal blessings and with warm Christian love, we greet the Saint Illuminator’s Cathedral in New York City, the oldest parish of the Prelacy of the United States, which was founded in 1910, and which this year celebrates the 110th anniversary of its establishment.
It is with fatherly pride that we have been informed by the Lord and see the success of the activities of this cathedral and its tireless dedication to its mission. It has become a lighthouse of faith, a spiritual home, and a nurturing center for the faithful.
When we were pursuing our education in New York, on many occasions, we have offered the Holy Eucharist, “Soorp Badarak,” at the altar of the Cathedral, and have participated in numerous events sponsored by the Cathedral. Even though many of the parishioners reside farther away, they continue to remain involved and to support the good works of the church because they perceive the church as their spiritual mission. The spiritual meaning of the church, by its essence and being and mission, to be a spiritual home; it should not be understood as a commonplace location, but rather a point of sacred connection. It is the home of the soul of faithful. Our hopeful expectations are that, through knowledge, the Saint Illuminator’s Cathedral, through its people, will renew itself and become more appealing to Christian witnesses, especially with intense pastoral service.
Therefore, the observance of the 110th anniversary should become, in the life of the parish, not only the church of their thanksgiving and glory to God, who never ceases to bless and to support them, but also their dedication to fulfill the church’s mission with a house-upstanding. We wish to extend our highest appreciation to all those parishioners and benefactors, who have supported and strengthened this lighthouse, this unique house of worship in New York City.
With this encyclical letter, we bless those, who have labored with love and dedication, by truly-inspired minds. The observance of the 110th anniversary is an occasion for us to express our special fatherly appreciation to His Eminence Archbishop Anoushavan Tanielian, to the pastor Reverend Father Mesrob Lakissian, and to the honorable members of the Board of Trustees, to all the working-elderships – to the faithful believers and parishioners, who—May Almighty God—bless them to see the fruits of their mission, and bestow on them the crown of success for their gifts to the church and for their constructive role of faith in the Armenian mission.
May we be filled with love from the Lord, strengthened by the Grace of the Holy Spirit, and forever blessed by us.Amen.
